Glastonbury festival - Got to get a pair of denim cut offs!!

Flicking through the Glastonbury festival pictures I noticed four of todays key fashion trend setters wearing denim cut offs - a pure sign this is or will be now a serious trend! Got to say Sienna wore it best!

My pins are not quiet in shape yet to be wearing such a fetching trend but to the girls who have got it, grab a pair of scissors and an old pair of jeans... Voilà!!

Summer pleaseeee!!

The magazines are now fully focused on the Autumn Winter 2010 trends and the seasonal sales have started ...yet frankly I feel summer has not even started! The Zurich summer so far is colder than a Cape Town winter!!  So in order to feel remotely "summerish" I am wearing my new "Tods" loafers today.  I love the strong nautical trend this summer... Nothing quiet like the combination of red, white and blue.

The Met Costume Institute Gala 2010

Parties and red carpet events seem a million miles a way from my world of breast feeding and nappy changing... but there is one party I would kill to go to and that would be the Met Costume Institute Gala event. 

The annual Gala Benefit took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York last Monday. It was hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Patrick Robinson of the Gap, and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. The theme was American Women: Fashioning A National Identity, based, as ever, on a Costume Institute exhibition by the same name.

It is a party where the who`s who are seen embracing fashion. Key trends are identified and I highlighted below some of my favorite looks to inspire, even though it will be a while till I am ready to hit the red carpet:)

Shape Trends:

• Variations on a Roman theme - elegant empresses draped in flowing layers.
• Fairytale - nipped waists contrasted against heavily puffed mesh and tulle skirts
• Flirty mini`s - shorter lengths give a modern twist on the red carpet. One-shoulder designs with added flirty ornamentation in feathers, ruffles and pleats

Colour Trends:

• White  - a key story for Spring Summer 10 
• Deep, intense shades of navy and sapphire provided a sophisticated alternative to black. Brighter shades ranged from royal cobalt to azure, creating more of an aquatic feel.
• Metallics, always glamorous.

Jimmy Choo to launch luxury sneakers in May

Jimmy choo - known for creating beautiful sky high heels are launching a stylish line of high and low tops in May. The pre fall launch will consist of 8 designs with exotic snake skin and  suede combining luxury with comfort. But comfort does not come cheap... prices ranging from US$ 470 - US$ 630... but perfect for the super stylish Mom`s who have to run after a toddler! 

Overall I think it is great that more luxury brands are launching sneaker designs supporting the trend towards a chic comfy look. I am a big fan of Tods sneakers and the classic Converse All Stars ...a look I really picked up from my brother and his stylish wife. I love to find unique pairs in New York where there is so much choice and of course at such a great price you can really splurge on a few pairs!!!

Thanks to everyone who voted on the Clog Trend!

With 65% "giving this trend a miss" it definitely wont be a firm favorite of "High Heels and Nappies" Moms:)

Good or bad news, this trend will still be important for Autumn Winter 2010. So maybe this gives us time for clogs to grow on us and we will all be clip clopping around next season??

Clogs -love or hate them?

So girls... we are all aware of the Clog trend this season and the shoes are already making a big impression in London at high street level..... but what is it going to be... to wear Clogs or not this Summer?? Please fill out the poll on the right as would love to know your thoughts.

Got to say they did look fabulous on all the Chanel models walking around the hay stacks and are a key accessory for the Prairie Girl trend. Plus can be easily teamed with the seasons bleached denim for a more 90`s Nirvana rock look.

MMmhhhh think I need to go and try a pair on once I have a waist again!

  

Spring Summer 10 ad campaigns HOT HOT HOT!!

There is nothing quiet like a new fashion magazine....crisp clean pages and a hot off the press smell.  I always find it especially exciting to discover the new ad campaigns. I love seeing the photography and the way the leading brands reflect their direction for the season. 

My husband always laughs at me because I run my hand over the page as if I can feel the energy. Guess it is just passion for fashion!
