First day back at work tomorrow!!

Well as they say, all good things come to an end...and it is my first day back at work tomorrow after an amazing, exhilirating and life changing 8 months of maternity leave....Sebastian came into our lives on the 29th April and it has been the start to an incredible journey of love, worry and fun. 

He has already been to Asia and Africa and now his next destination is the new day care in Herrliberg ...but being a bit of a "Jet setter" :) has stood him in good stead as he is used to  new places and faces and handled his day care introduction period like a champion... not too mention the girls who work there are very sweet and I feel he is in good hands. 

So I am sitting here with a knot in my tummy as I am excited to get back to work yet nervous for all the changes which lie ahead.... packing Sebastian`s bag the night before ...in order to be super organised...I feel ORGANISATION is going to be my key word this year!

So, wish me luck and stay tuned for lots more fashion, laughs and tears to come....as I venture into a new journey of getting back into the world of fashion and trying to be the best working Mom possible...

Emil`s 2010 hero...Sebastian Vettel, NO..Sebastian Steinberger!!

High Heels and Nappies wanted to proudly congratulate Emil on his lifetime achivement award which he recieved last Saturday night...it was a complete surprise as Niccel, his fabulous wife, made up a little white lie in order to get him to the Swiss awards...it is an award well deserved and Sebastian is very proud of his talented grandfather/Opi!

It was touching to read in an interview that Sebastian is Emil and Niccel`s Hero of 2010... the newspaper thought they were talking about Sebastina Vettel (Formula 1 World Champion 2010 racing driver) but no no...it is Sebastian Steinberger!! Lets see if he follows in his grandfather`s footsteps ??!:))

High Heels and Nappies is back.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

So I had big plans to keep my blog up to date during my holiday in Cape Town.. but as you can imagine it was not so easy...way to many long boozey lunches, braai`s (BBQ) with family and friends, swimming with Sebastian and trips to the spa and up to Hermanus (beach town up the coast) ...but now that I am back I wanted to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

I have to say having a child definately makes Christmas a magical time...it was Sebastian`s first Christmas and at just 8 months you could feel his excitment.....he did not want to miss out and stayed up late being passed form one cousin to the next enjoying all the fun ....as our Christmas celebrations always end up with the "dress up" bag of wigs and crazy props creeping out ........we even had a break dancing show this year from one of my yougest and talented cousins, Ethan.

We had such a fantastic holiday and feel extremely lucky to be blessed with such a wonderful family and close friends. It is always very hard to say goodbye and I miss everyone lots but know we will  all be together again soon...

We are family.....

It is wonderful to be in Cape Town.....happy to finally arrive after a very loooooong flight... Sebastian managed to sleep most of the way although he had to bend his knees in the basinet:) and ended up sleeping on my lap...I was freezing so was enjoying the cuddles. 

My Mom and I flew in the same day so we were very lucky my cousin Caroline had kindly done the shopping. Sebastian had nappies and the fridge was full, so we could come home and relax. Sebastian`s Godmother, Caroline delivered a cot, high chair, toys etc so we were very organised.... thanks to the fabulous Carolines!!:)

On Saturday I met up with all my very special school friends for lunch who I have known for as far back as I can remember. I miss them all so much but even though I live a million miles away it is just like old times as soon as we get together...as if we have never been apart. Over the years we have shared so many wonderful, crazy, and unforgettable moments.... and now the joys of Motherhood with fifteen children between us and two on the way! (Including Natalie who could not make it)
True friendships which I cherish and hope Sebastian one day will be as lucky to find too.

We went to the Uitsig restaurant which is one of my favorites in Cape Town... a must if you are visting...the second restaurant on the Uitsig estate, La Colombe is also amazing and been voted the best restaurant in South Africa !! Philipp and I love going for long romantic lunches in the garden....it is hard too beat!

Halloween...

Our cute little devil..

I am a total sucker for dressing up, guess it was the Hong Kong influence and well now it is in my blood! So I have made a promise that next Halloween I am going to get a killer outfit!! And I better find a fabulous party to wear it to :)

The Swiss seem to be embracing the idea of celebrating Halloween more and more which I think is so much fun...although if I want some serious trick or treating I guess I have to make my way to visit Uncle Paul and Auntie Jenny in New York next year !!

Sebastian in Hong Kong...

We have been in HK for three weeks and enjoying every minute yet time is flying! Sebastian is loving HK... he suffered from a bit of jet lag the first three days wanting to play between 8 and 12pm but by day 4 he was back on track....sleeping through the night like a little angel.

Sebastian has become a professional shopper at 4 and half months:) As he is not a huge fan of the heat so we cruise the fabulous air conditioned shopping malls of HK a lot.. Luckily they have amazing shopping centers and cater so well for babies with designer changing rooms. A special room with dim lighting a changing table, feeding chair are available making the feeding, changing etc so easy and stress free. 

The Maclaren was an amazing buy.. he sleeps like a champion and it is so light and easy to manage.. can not imagine traveling with my big pram in HK. Would have been a disaster plus you can ride the escalators easily instead of having to find a elevator.

Sebastian went on his first boat trip yesterday.. a fabulous 65 foot motor yacht if I must say:).... not a bad start for my little man! Thanks to the Edwards for organizing a wonderful day..

But got to say around 4 months seems to be the perfect travel age as it has been a dream... so if you are thinking of a trip ..go for it!

My how times have changed...

Exactly a year ago I was dancing around the Zurich street parade wearing a police hat and sipping champagne with Philipp asking me to arrest him!! :))

Now, being a responsible Mom, I am at home putting Sebastian to bed and thinking it is crazy how much can change in 365 days! Yet there is no other place I would rather be than with my cute little boy.. Street parade can wait.. at least until next year:)

What would we do without our Moms??

I am sitting here feeling extremely blessed I have such amazing, supportive parents...my Mom, Sebastian`s "Zsa Zsa" has just left after staying with us for 7 weeks. She helped me give Sebastian the best start to his special life ...and I was lucky my Dad, being the star he is, was willing to let my Mom stay for so long! 

My Mom arrived two weeks after Sebastian was born which really worked well as it gave us time to bond as a new family. My Dad had to almost tie my Mom to the chair after I gave birth...as you can imagine, she was dying to meet Sebastian!!! But it was a very special time for the three of us, also allowing me to gain confidence as a new Mom.

During the first few weeks it is really best to have your new born at home, where they feel content. So it was wonderful to have the company and I am lucky that my Mom and I get on so well. We always manage to have a good giggle and enjoyed all the wonderful and daunting new moments with Sebastian.

We really shared a once in a life time experience which I will be forever grateful......love you lots Mom!!

Let`s hear it for the Dads!!!

As it is Father`s Day on Sunday I thought I would dedicate my blog this weekend to all the fabulous Dads out there!:) 

It will be Philipp`s first Father`s day, which is definitely a very special one. Philipp has been an amazing Father and for someone who has never held a baby in his life before... he has taken to it with such ease, love and confidence. He still needs a bit of work on the nappy changing but already showing great improvement :))

The first few weeks poor Philipp got ordered around... fetch this, pass this, hold this... which sound like meaningless tasks yet it was the  much needed support and help making this daunting and emotionally wonderful experience stress free. They say husband and wife are a team and this is one of those times where "the team" needs to be on top form!

It has been amazing to see a very special bond forming between Philipp and Sebastian....lots of important father and son bonding time is spent together in the early mornings, where Mom can catch up on some much needed sleep, and of course the boys watching the World Cup Football together..... although Dad is not allowed to scream as loud!! 

They have such an exciting journey ahead and know Philipp is going to be a sensational Father.
